August 2021 Newsletter

Happy almost fall! It’s hard to believe the summer is coming to an end when the weather is still so warm. As our students head back to school and (hopefully) cooler weather begins, I can’t stress enough the importance of getting vaccinated against COVID-19 if you have not done so already.

It was great to return to a semblance of pre-pandemic life this summer — traveling, visiting restaurants and seeing friends and family without masks. Sadly, due to the quick spread of the Delta variant, we’re back to taking major precautions to protect those who are not yet vaccinated.

The best way to fight COVID-19 hasn’t changed — get vaccinated! If you or your loved ones are not yet vaccinated, now is the time. Please reach out to my office if you need help getting a vaccine or if you have any questions.

Illinois Legislative Update

CoinFlip, a leading cryptocurrency ATM operator, opened its new Chicago headquarters on August 24th, bringing hundreds of fintech jobs to our City. I was honored to join the Governor JB Pritzker and the CoinFlip team for this historic occasion in the Old Post Office building for this momentous announcement. This is a huge step towards making Illinois a leader in cryptocurrency and fintech, a goal I am committed to making a reality in our state.

Northalsted Market Days

My staff loved meeting and getting to know our constituents while enjoying the live music and festivities. Something cool about the event? They offered free COVID rapid testing and a place to get vaccinated.

The Folded Map Project

Earlier this month, I took part in Tonika Lewis Johnson’s Folded Map Project, which encourages Chicagoans to understand how our city is structured and how we’re impacted by our neighborhood’s conditions. I partnered with my ‘neighborhood twin’, Representative Mah, to guide each other through tours of our districts to understand the historical contrast of our communities.

Small Business Shoutout

month we give a special mention to one small business in our district in a way to support the businesses that make IL-12 so special. French Quiche is our September Small Business Shoutout! If you are in the mood for delicious French food and great conversation, make sure to stop by the shop on Halsted.

If you have a favorite store, restaurant, or other business in the district, let us know at info@repcroke.com and you might see it in a future Small Business Shoutout!

Wishing you all a happy end to summer and a great start to the new school year for all our young learners!
