  • 102nd Legislative Session: Committees

Speaker Welch recently announced the Democratic House committee assignments, and I’m thrilled to share with you a little bit about the committees I’ll be serving on in the 102nd legislative session.

Financial Institutions. I am honored to be the Vice Chair of the Financial Institutions Committee, where I will be uniquely positioned to help make Illinois a national leader in the financial technology industry. Our state has the opportunity to lead the way on block-chain technology and crypto-assets, which could make Illinois a hub for innovation and entrepreneurship for future generations – and all the jobs that come with it.

Revenue and Finance. I’ve also been appointed to the Revenue and Finance Committee where I will fight to pass legislation to support small businesses and their employees and to incentivize investment in our start-up community, particularly start-ups owned by women of color, disabled Illinoisans, and those in rural areas.

Child Care Access and Early Childhood Education. As a mom, nothing is more important to me than fighting for the futures of children like mine, and that starts with quality, affordable education and care. On the Child Care Access and Early Childhood Education Special Committee, I will work to ensure children across the state have the chance to succeed.

Transportation: Regulation, Roads & Bridges. On the Transportation Committee, I’ll have a voice in ensuring our infrastructure and public transportation system is strong and reliable, a critical component of making Illinois the best place to live and work.

Appropriations: General Services. Before running for office, I served as the legislative liaison at the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, where I worked to make sure our state prioritized economic growth. Now on the Appropriations Committee, I’m excited to have a role in advocating for other ways Illinois appropriates its funds.

As your State Representative, I am going to fight every day to make our city and our state the best place to live, work, raise a family, and grow a business. The committees I’ve been assigned to are a launching pad for those efforts, and I can’t wait to get to work.
