IL-12 Holiday Giving Guide
The holidays are a great time to give back. Supporting local organizations uplifts our community and helps to make Illinois’s 12th District a stronger, more compassionate place.
Your generosity makes a real difference. Below are a few of many organizations that can always use some extra hands and support.
Human Services & Food Security
- Lincoln Park Community Services (LPCS): LPCS unites the community to empower individuals experiencing homelessness to achieve stability and independence. Your support sustains their essential services—providing food, shelter, and case management—and ensures compassionate, high-quality care for every guest on their journey toward a brighter, more stable future.
- Nourishing Hope: Provides food, mental health, and social services so that all of our neighbors can thrive. Supporting their mission will help them provide these much-needed services to Chicagoans in need.
- Care for Friends: Serves 9,000 sit-down, hot meals each year to any guest in need through a three-days-per-week lunch program (Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 10:30 am – 12:30 pm). Meals, which emphasize fresh produce and high protein, are served with dignity and respect by a dedicated volunteer corps.
Animal Welfare & Environment
- PAWS Chicago: One of the nation’s largest No Kill animal welfare organizations. This year alone, they are on pace to find homes for 5,000 pets, perform 21,000 spay/neuter surgeries, and assist 26,000 at-risk animals. Their annual You Give, They Live campaign invites animal lovers to join their life-saving mission and help build a No Kill Chicago.
- Lincoln Park Zoo: Your support keeps this shared Chicago treasure free and open 365 days a year, funding world-class animal care, global conservation efforts, and exceptional education programs. You can donate directly, symbolically Adopt an Animal, or purchase enrichment items from their Wish List to directly contribute to the daily care and welfare of their more than 650 animal species.
Toy & Gift Drives
- Salvation Army Angel Tree: The Angel Tree program provides new toys and clothing donations to more than one million children in need each year. You can purchase gifts for children through Walmart’s Spark Good Registry, and the Salvation Army will distribute them on Christmas morning.
- Toys for Tots: Collects new, unwrapped toys in December via collection boxes in local businesses for children in need.
- 18th Police District: Now through December 10th, the 18th Police District is collecting new toys, coats, scarves, hats, and school supplies for the youth ages from 5-17 in the community. Drop off is at the 18th District Lobby (1160 N. Larrabee Chicago, IL). For more information, call 312-472-5578.
