  • Statement from State Representative Margaret Croke on House Passage of Fertility Treatment Coverage Legislation

CHICAGO, IL – Today, State Representative Margaret Croke (IL-12) released the following statement on the Illinois State House’s passage of her bill amendment to expand fertility treatment coverage in Illinois to include same-sex couples, women over 35, single women, and women who cannot get pregnant naturally due to a medical issue:

“Regardless of age, sexuality, medical history, or relationship status, all Illinoisans should be able to receive the same insurance coverage for fertility treatments as they look to start or grow a family. For too long, Illinois’ insurance laws have excluded millions of people who want to become parents, and today, we’ve taken a critical step toward setting things right and making insurance coverage more inclusive for all Illinoisans. I am honored to lead this bill on behalf of everyone trying to become a parent in Illinois, and look forward to seeing it passed out of the Senate this session.”
